Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs)

Environmental impact assessment is undertaken in pursuant with section 58 of the Environmental Management and Coordination Act, 1999. EIAs are legal requirement and part of the project development process usually done at the initial stages of a project development to determine whether or not a programme, activity or project will have any adverse impacts on the environment. It is a decision-making tool and should guide whether a project should be implemented, abandoned, or modified prior to implementation. The goal of an EIA is to ensure that decisions on proposed projects and activities are environmentally sustainable.

Environmental Audits

Environmental Audit (EA) is a systematic documented, periodic, and objective evaluations of how activities and processes of an ongoing project to determine how far these activities and programs conform to the approved environmental management plan of that specific project and sound environmental management practices in a bid to ensure a safe and healthy environment. KCL has extensive experience in undertaking strategic environmental audits for the various sectors.

Workplace Occupation Safety & Health Auditing

Section 11 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act, 2007 (which repealed the now obsolete Factories & Other Places of Work Act Cap 514), requires that the occupier causes a safety and health audit of his workplace to be carried out by a registered safety and health advisor once in every twelve months and to issue a report of the same to the Director of DOHSS.

Occupational Noise Survey and Mapping

Noise measurements should be undertaken at least once every twelve months in every workplace in order to determine the prevailing noise conditions where there are noise emission sources. KCL conducts the occupational and environmental noise survey, in addition advance practical and economically viable recommendations in eliminating noise hazard are proposed. In this assessment of the amenity effects of noise from the site, the level of noise already present will be determined; this will include noise from other sources in both the diurnal and nocturnal schedule.
